Dr. Deschenes is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Youngstown State University. His primary research focus is concrete materials and their durability. His current research efforts include the durability mechanisms of alkali-silica reaction (ASR), freezing and thawing, and microbially induced concrete corrosion (MICC). He has also investigated concrete mixture design optimization including the use of fly ash, waste plastic, and geopolymer cements.
