Fernando Salas is the Director of the Geo-Intelligence Division within the NOAA/NWS Office of Water Prediction. In this role, Mr. Salas supports programmatic activities that specialize in the application of geographic and hydrologic information systems to NOAA's freshwater prediction mission. Included in this effort is the development and implementation of continental scale flood inundation mapping capabilities as well as continental scale precipitation frequency analyses that aid in the engineering design of infrastructure. Prior to joining NOAA, Mr. Salas received degrees in Civil Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin and Cornell University.
