Dr. Kathy Gee received her B.S. and M.S. degrees in Biological Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech. She joined Dr. Bill Hunt’s Stormwater team at NC State University in 2008 as an Extension Associate, and earned her PhD under Dr. Hunt in 2013. Her PhD research focused on the water quality aspects of rainwater harvesting systems and enhancing the stormwater management capabilities of these systems. Kathy joined Longwood University in 2013, and earned tenure as an Associate Professor in 2019. Her research efforts focus on characterizing the hydrologic, water quality, and social benefits of rainwater harvesting systems. In 2024 Kathy joined OptiRTC as Director of Regulatory Affairs, where she builds strategic relationships and proactively manages regulatory compliance issues at the federal, state, and local levels to support Opti’s business development activities and projects.
