José Luis Baquedano is a Civil Engineer and MSc. from Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María (Valparaíso, Chile), and is currently a PhD student in Engineering Science at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (Santiago, Chile). He worked for six years at a water research center before deciding to pursue a PhD. His topics of interest are related to surface hydrology, climate change and extreme events assessment, and is currently working with Professor Jorge Gironás and Professor Cristián Chadwick on ways to consider extreme events and climate change projections in hydrologic design tools, such as Intensity-Duration-Frequency (IDF) curves.
