David Tarboton is the director of the Utah Water Research Laboratory at Utah State University. The Utah Water Research Laboratory conducts research to generate knowledge needed to solve water problems in Utah, the country and around the world. Dr. Tarboton’s research is in the area of surface water hydrology, water resources, hydrologic modeling, hydrologic information systems, digital elevation model terrain analysis and snow. He led the development of HydroShare, a hydrologic information system for sharing hydrologic data and models operated by the Consortium of Universities for the Advancement of Hydrologic Science, Inc. His work includes modeling of streamflow and the analysis of drought in the Colorado River Basin. He graduated from MIT in 1989, and has been on the faculty at Utah State University from 1990 to present.
