Dr. Heidi L Gough is an Associate Professor of Environmental Engineering in the School of Environmental and Forest Sciences at the University of Washington. She holds B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Environmental Engineering from Northwestern University, and is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE). Her research areas include, wastewater treatment, soils treatment, biological processes, anaerobic digestion, and molecular ecology, with a specialized interest in low-impact wastewater treatment designed for resource-limited communtieis. She is recognized for cross-disciplinary collaboration applied toward pressing needs for clean water and biofuels for resource-limited communities, particularly through international collaboration, and is passionate about advancing the roles of women scholars in water engineering on a global scale through her work with the ASCE EWRI Women Water Nexus Committee.
