Dr. Sorgog Kitano is a visiting researcher at Jackson State University. She earned her Ph.D. in Environmental Science from Yokohama National University in Japan and subsequently carried out extensive research on chemical risk assessment and agricultural biodiversity conservation at prestigious institutions such as the Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS), the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), and the National Agriculture and Food Research Organization (NARO). Her current research focuses on exploring the mechanisms of phytoremediation using Vetiver roots to remediate soils contaminated with heavy metals and per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).
