Darren has 19 years of professional design experience in the field of river engineering, hydraulic structure design, and modeling. His work has included bank protection design, hydraulic structure modifications and analysis, fish passage and habitat design, and physical modeling. He managed NHC's Seattle hydraulics laboratory for four years and has been involved with various physical modeling projects assessing rivers, dams, and pump wet wells. Doctoral research focused on bedload transport, stream restoration, and advanced hydraulic design. Currently his projects are largely related to resolving sediment issues around dams, removing fish passage impediments, and stream restoration.
