Dr. Sanja Perica is the IBSS/RTI International Chief Scientist for the NOAA Atlas 15 project. Dr. Perica has thirty years of professional experience in water resource engineering that includes both research and teaching. Before joining the NOAA in 2007, Dr. Perica was a faculty member in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Utah. She served as the Director of the NOAA/NWS/Hydrometeorological Design Studies Center (HDSC) team until her retirement in 2020. As the technical lead for the NOAA Atlas 14 Volumes 4 to 11 and Atlas 15 prototype projects, she led the HDSC team in updating precipitation frequency estimates for the U.S. states and affiliated territories in response to additional data, enhanced analysis approaches and climate change.
