Water Resources Engineer
Center For Western Weather and Water Extremes (CW3E), Michigan, United States
Kyla is a Water Resources Engineer at the Center For Western Weather and Water Extremes (CW3E). At CW3E, Kyla supports forecast-informed reservoir operation (FIRO) efforts by researching and evaluating forecast-informed operating policies and contributing to FIRO viability assessments for reservoirs throughout the Western United States. Prior to joining CW3E, Kyla completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Cooperative Institute for Great Lakes Research, housed at NOAA's Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory. Kyla's doctoral and postdoctoral research focused on improving outflow regulation within the Great Lakes region by leveraging subseasonal-to-annual forecasts, many-objective optimization, and impact analysis modeling under current climate conditions as well as under plausible future climate. Kyla earned her MS and PhD in Environmental Engineering from Cornell University and her BSE in Environmental Engineering from Mercer University.
