Dr. Nick Fang is the Robert S. Gooch Professor in Civil Engineering and the Principal Investigator (PI) of the FANG (Flood Alleviation with Nature and Geography) Research Group at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA). He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Rice University in 2008. He currently leads the academic council of the Interagency Flood Risk Management (InFRM) team for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), and National Weather Service (NWS).
Dr. Fang has been actively working on surface water and water resources problems for about twenty years with a focus on flood forecasting, floodplain/hydrodynamic simulation, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, reservoir operations, and management, wetlands and natural resources, water infrastructure, stormwater management, and water quality assessment for many watersheds and municipalities in the U.S.
