Postdoctoral Associate and Lecturer
Florida International University, Florida, United States
Dr. Jerez is currently a Postdoctoral Associate of the Department of Earth and Environment at FIU. During his doctoral research, Dr. Jerez gained experience of maintaining a research monitoring program of four streams in small headwater drainage areas in southeastern Pennsylvania. Specifically, Dr. Jerez studied the relationship between watershed development and stream health by assessing hydro-geomorphological, physicochemical, and biological stream function components. Dr. Jerez’s experience included stream baseflow and stormflow sampling for analyzing multiple stream water quality parameters. In addition to his research interests on the stream response to the urban environment, Dr. Jerez is gaining experience as a researcher working on an EPA funded project. Particularly, Dr. Jerez is focusing on monitoring various types of Green Stormwater Infrastructure in southeastern Florida for evaluating long term-performance of these systems in reducing land-based pollution in Biscayne Bay and mitigating flood and urban heat island.
