Dr. Ebrahimian's research areas explore the linkages between hydrology, land cover dynamics, and green stormwater infrastructure to address challenges in urban and coastal resilience and sustainability. His current projects use in-situ sensors, remote sensing, field measurements, modeling, and AI technologies to investigate multi-functional green stormwater infrastructure for addressing flood risk, water quality, marine debris (microplastics and sediments), and urban heat island issues in urban coastal areas. He also develops decision support tools for integrating climate-resiliency, social equity, and environmental justice into civil infrastructure planning. Prior to joining FIU, Dr. Ebrahimian was a Research Professor at the Center for Resilient Water Systems at Villanova University where he focused on dynamic modeling and design of green stormwater infrastructure systems. Ebrahimian has 25 years of experience in academia and industry serving as a researcher, modeler, designer, systems analyst, and project manager in various disciplinary and interdisciplinary projects.
