Juan Saldarriaga (he/him/his)

Juan Saldarriaga is a professor in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Universidad de los Andes, Bogotá, Colombia, specializing in Hydraulic Engineering. He serves as the Director of the Water Distribution and Sewerage Systems Research Center (CIACUA) and holds the PAVCO Chair, leading research in pipeline hydraulics, water supply systems, and urban drainage systems. His research focuses on urban hydraulic systems, particularly potable water distribution and urban drainage systems. Professor Saldarriaga’s work includes developing mathematical and physical models for large cities, optimizing water distribution and drainage systems, and addressing water quality issues such as biofilm development. His expertise extends to the hydraulics of thermoplastic pipes and urban drainage structures, with a special emphasis on developing countries.
