Shannon has been involved in the development and application of innovative methods which utilize the highly specific human immune system antibody response as indicators of infection from waterborne pathogens. Her work has also included developing and validating molecular-based methods to measure occurrence of microbial contaminants in various water matrices. She will continue research on developing methods to evaluate community public health and well-being in addition to promoting community outreach and engagement.
