Daniel NIchols, PE, CCCA, M.ASCE director of civil engineering for Kuna Engineering. He is a lifelong Alaskan, born and raised in Anchorage. While in high school he was introduced to construction and engineering as a material tester and inspector. Daniel completed his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering from BYU in 2002. Since then, Daniel has spent most of his career focused on developing rural Alaskan communities. He has traveled extensively across Alaska, having worked in more than 150 remote communities. Daniel understands the unique challenges engineers and communities face in developing safe water and sewer in Alaska . Some of his technical specialties includes permafrost, earthwork, arctic utilities, water and sewer engineering, remote logistics, and construction administration. He has worked at Kuna Engineering since 2015 and is the civil engineering director. Daniel is an active member of ASCE since 1998 having served on the Anchorage Branch and Alaska Report Card committee. He is currently serving on the Alaska Section Board. Daniel and his wife, Rebecca, have six children. He enjoyes fishing, hunting, hiking, and generally getting outside.
